Wilson asks ‘why chancellor is deciding UK energy policy?’
During business questions, Liberal Democrat MP Munira Wilson applied pressure on the government, highlighting potential tensions between the prime minister Boris Johnson and chancellor Rishi Sunak on UK energy policy.
Wilson referred to an “energy independence plan” that was promised by Johnson and told the House that delays were “apparently because the chancellor is blocking it”.
BEIS secretary Kwasi Kwarteng denied that the chancellor was deciding policy alone, explaining that his department were “talking to colleagues across government, not just in the Treasury”.
