Lords accept animal welfare bill amendments amid concerns
As the House of Lords passed two amendments to the animal welfare bill that ensured the Animal Sentence Committee to “respect religious rights, cultural traditions and religious heritage”, former vet, Lord Trees told the House that he did not condone “some of the activities covered in the amendment”.
While lords accepted and respected the amendments, there was a concern that it allowed for animals to be treated in way not “acceptable in the 21st century”.
Baroness Jones of Moulscoomb described the amendments as “better than nothing”.
