Lords: The issue with Northern Ireland union is that the government have devolved and forgotten
In a debate on Northern Ireland’s relationship with the United Kingdom, the Conservative party’s Lord Lexden summed up the issue as “devolve and forget”.
Lexden encouraged parliament to look over Northern Ireland’s communities with their best interests at heart.
On the issue of a Northern Irish return to Ireland, Labour’s Baroness Ritchie of Downpatrick explained that she felt Irish and saw that as an aspiration, however, stressed the importance of “consent” in the Good Friday agreement.
