Priti Patel attacks Rwanda asylum critics
Priti Patel told opposition MPs to “calm down and listen” as she staunchly defended the government’s new Rwanda asylum scheme in the House of Commons.
Responding to Former prime minister Theresa May, the home secretary lost her temper in a heated Commons session, accusing the opposition benches of not listening on several occasions.
May had publically disagreed with the new government policy on relocating asylum seekers to Rwanda, claiming she could not support it “on the grounds of legality, practicality and efficacy”.
Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper said the new policy “will make it worse for trafficking.
