Cable’s dreams fulfilled – for half an hour

He may not have secured his plans for wholesale reform of the banking sector but at least one of Vince Cable’s dreams has been partially fulfilled.
The business secretary took a new Aston Martin for a drive during a visit to the west Midlands, as part of a tour of high-tech manufacturing.
He revealed his love for Aston Martins during a Times interview last year.
“I dream of owning the latest Aston Martin,” he told the newspaper.
“But in fact I drive a boring Vauxhall.”
The business secretary also visited Jaguar Land Rover and a research centre for prototype models in the industry before hosting a roundtable meeting with local businesses.
