The polls: Lib Dems nose ahead
By politics.co.uk staff
The Liberal Democrat bubble has not yet burst, a week on from the TV debate which gave Nick Clegg such a boost.
The latest poll, The YouGov/Sun Daily tracker, puts the hitherto third party in first place, going to 34%, up three points from the day before.
The Conservatives lose two points to go to second place on 31%. Labour also lose a point to sit at 26%, not much higher than their level of support in the disastrous 1983 election.
With a margin of error of three per cent, it is clear that the race is neck and neck between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, and a hung parliament looks likely if things stay as they are.
Other polls, published on Monday, all have the Lib Dems second to the Tories, but within two or three points.
