A Tory MP has been hospitalised after a confrontation with a gang in Dorset.
Former army captain Tobias Ellwood, 42, asked the group of men to stop kicking a football around the town centre at which point they threw the ball at his face from point blank range.
When the shadow culture minister tried to take their photos they proceeded to hit him in the face and neck.
“I had to go to hospital for bruising to my face and left ear, and have given a statement to the police,” the Bournemouth East said.
“They are now investigating the matter and I can’t say any more because of it.”
Last year a gang threw stones at Mr Ellwood when he caught them urinating in a private garden.
