Labour may delay Post Office showdown

Labour may delay the upcoming show down on the part sell-off of Royal Mail, as it fears a drubbing during this month’s local and European elections.
Peter Mandelson, business secretary, admitted the second reading of the bill could be put back from its current June 9th debate.
“The government is going to proceed with this legislation. The second reading may not take place on June 9th,” he said yesterday.
More than 150 Labour MPs, including some former ministers, are planning to oppose the plans, which would see some of Royal Mail sold off to Dutch firm TNT.
