BNP list: Two arrests
Two people have been arrested in Nottinghamshire in connection to the publication of a BNP membership list last month.
The individuals have not been named, but they have been arrested under the Data Protection Act.
The investigation was conducted by Dyfed Powys police and the Information Commissioner’s Office.
“We can confirm that last night Nottinghamshire police arrested two people as part of a joint investigation with Dyfed Powys police and the Information Commissioner’s Office in conjunction with alleged criminal offences under the Data Protection Act,” a statement said.
“The arrests followed an investigation into a complaint received about the unauthorised release of the BNP party membership list.”
The list’s publication caused shockwaves across several sectors, with instances of police, radio DJ’s and even Green party members joining the party.
