Francie Molloy first elected as the Sinn Fein MP for Mid Ulster in 2013, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 9,537.
The constituency of Mid Ulster is located in the centre of Northern Ireland spreading west from the shores of Lough Neagh. It has a notable agricultural component. This seat contains a small nationalist majority, but with regular splits in the vote between Northern Ireland’s various nationalist parties, it was held by the Democratic Unionist Party between 1983 and 1997. Since 1997 the seat has been won by Sinn Fein, having previously been held for the party by Martin McGuiness.
Molloy was a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for Mid Ulster between 1998 and 2013.
Born in 1950, Francie Molloy attended Ulster University. He has been a political activist since the 1960s.
Like the other Sinn Fein MPs, he does not take his seat at Westminster.
