Will Quince was first elected as the Conservative MP for Colchester in 2015 being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 9,423.
The constituency of Colchester covers the county town of Essex, and has one of the largest resident military populations of any seat in the UK. The constituency was held by the Liberal Democrats between 1997 and 2015, but in the last two elections, Colchester has turned back to the Conservatives with the Labour Party firmly establishing itself in second place.
Quince was appointed Under Secretary of State for Education in September 2021. He served as Under Secretary for Welfare Delivery between 2019 and 2021.
Quince was born in 1982, graduated from the University of Wales in Law in 2005 and gained a postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice from the University of West of England Bristol.
Before becoming an MP, Will Quince practised as a trustee and as a solicitor in Colchester.
He served on Colchester Council between 2011 and 2016, and on East Hertfordshire District Council between 2008 and 2009.
Quince is married with two children. In 2020, he revealed that he went on a diet and lost over six stone in weight.
