David Morris was first elected as Conservative MP for Morecambe & Lunesdale in 2010, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 6,354.

Morecambe and Lunesdale is the most northerly constituency in Lancashire.  It spreads inland from the coastal town of Morecambe and the ferry port of Heysham, to include a large portion of rural countryside along the Cumbrian border.  It was held by Labour during their period in government between 1997 and 2010.

Born in 1966 in Lancashire, Morris lives in Heysham.  Before entering Parliament in May 2010, he was a hairdresser and for many years ran his own successful salon business.  He is a member of the National Hairdressing Council.

Morris supported Remain in the 2016 EU referendum, and backed Jeremy Hunt in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election.

Morris is an accomplished musician, who in the 1980s performed alongside Rick Astley as a guitarist, and worked writing songs for Pete Waterman’s PWL label including for the likes of Jason Donovan and Sonia.  He still enjoys playing the guitar, and is said to have amassed more than 50 classic instruments.

Morris is said to be friends with David Hasselhoff of Baywatch fame, as well as the Queen guitarist, Brian May.  Morris, like May, has been vocal opponent of badger culling.

David Morris is Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on the Caribbean,  Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Japan, Serbia and Taiwan, the Armed Forces Covenant, Deliberative Democracy, and Music.  He is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Lancashire, and Space.

According to the Register of Members Interest, he employs his wife, Emma Morris, as a Senior Parliamentary Assistant.
