Graham Stuart was first elected as the Conservative MP for Beverley and Holderness in 2005 being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 20,448.
The Beverley and Holderness constituency is a rural constituency to the north and east of Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Alongside the market town of Beverley, the seat contains a stretch of the North Sea coast running upwards from Spurn point, and then along the Humber Estuary to the town of Hedon. Home to a number of Hull commuters and retired voters, the constituency is typically a safe Conservative seat.
Stuart served as Under Secretary of State for International Trade between 2018 and 2021. He was previously a government whip.
Prior to joining the government, Stuart was previously Chairman of the Commons Education Select Committee between 2010 and 2015.
Born in 1962, Stuart attended Glenalmond College before reading Philosophy and then Law at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He started his publishing business at the end of his first year at Cambridge and according to the register of Members Interest remains a shareholder in CSL Publishing Ltd.
He was elected to Cambridgeshire County Council between 1998 and 2004.
He voted to Remain in the 2016 EU referendum, but subsequently voted for a No Deal Brexit.
He backed Boris Johnson in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election.
Graham Stuart cites a wide range of interests from football to economics, climate change to motorcycling, mental health to punk rock. He is also a keen triathlete.
He is married with two daughters. He employs his sister as an Office Manager
