Peter Gibson is‌ ‌the‌ Conservative ‌MP‌ ‌for‌ Darlington‌,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in‌ 2019, winning the seat from Labour, ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌majority‌ ‌of‌ 3,294.

Darlington is a market town found to the south of County Durham. A traditional swing seat that falls to the Conservative Party in its better electoral years, it was previously represented by the Conservative Michael Fallon between 1983 and 1992, and by the Conservatives again between 1951 and 1964.  The constituency is based almost entirely on the railway town of Darlington itself. In 2021 it was announced that a large part of the Treasury was to be relocated to this constituency.

Born‌ ‌in 1975, Peter Gibson studied law at the University of Newcastle. Prior to being elected to Parliament, Gibson worked‌ ‌as‌ a solicitor specialising in personal injury litigation and was the Managing Director of Coles Solicitors from 2006 to 2019.  The company which previously had nine offices in the North of England was sold in 2019 to Kingsley Solicitors.   Gibson is currently the Chairman of the All Party Group on Personal Banking and Fairer Financial Services.

Gibson is a Trustee and Director of two hospices: Harrogate and District Hospice, and Herriot Hospice Homecare. He is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hospice and End of Life Care.

Gibson supported remain in the 2016 Brexit referendum.

Gibson is in a civil partnership. He enjoys the cinema.

He is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Adoption, the Armed Forces Covenant, Brazil, Fair Business Banking, Global LGBT Rights, Housing and Market Delivery, Domestic Abuse, Social Integration, and Town Centres.
