The government is planning on ending laws around the wearing of face masks and social distancing, and moving towards individuals exercising “personal responsibility” for the way they behave in the face of the virus.
The prime minister said yesterday he expects to be able to confirm the planned go ahead for lifting remaining coronavirus restrictions on 19 July after the the latest review of the date on 12 July.
This would include ending the legal restriction to wear a facemask, though Johnson himself said he would continue to wear one when indoors in a crowded space, when required to do so by a “competent authority” and when someone else was uncomfortable if he did not wear a mask.
