The loser: Peter Ainsworth
By politics.co.uk staff
With any cabinet reshuffle there will inevitable be casualties and this time it is Peter Ainsworth.
Failing to make an impact in his short time as shadow environment secretary he has been culled from the cabinet in the latest reshuffle.
Mr Ainsworth had only been in his post since January 6th of this year and has been unceremoniously dropped after he frustrated the leadership by not gaining any press or policy traction.
Ainsworth was notable as the only member of the shadow cabinet to have voted against the war in Iraq.
Mr Ainsworth has been replaced by David Cameron’s “rising star”, Nick Herbert.
Mr Herbert, previously the shadow secretary for justice, fills the void left by Mr Ainsworth’s departure with expectation on him to start debate and put forward the Conservative plans.
