Queen’s Speech
The Queen’s Speech has set out the legislative agenda for the next 18 months.
The deficit reduction plan forms the cornerstone of the agenda, but a wide range of issues are touched on.
Welfare reform, academy expansion, elected police chiefs and the part-privatisation of the Royal Mail will all go ahead.
There will be a referendum on voting reform, and fixed parliaments will be set in stone. Corrupt MPs can be sacked by their constituents, under upcoming law. A ‘great repeal bill’ will scrap reams of new Labour legislation.
