General election 2010
The 2010 general election has seen voters return a hung parliament for the first time since 1974.
The Conservatives took the lead but failed to get enough seats to get a majority.
Labour performed badly, but better than many had been predicting. MPs in some marginal seats managed to hold up against the Tory threat.
The Liberal Democrat surge in the polls did not translate into success at the polling station and Nick Clegg will be disappointed by his party’s performance.
There are now several options: A Lib-Con pact, a Lib-Lab pact, or a minority Tory government.
