Tories doing “very well”, Cameron claims
David Cameron says the Conservatives are doing “very well” as local election results continue to come in.
The Tory helmsman, in a video posted on webcameron, pointed to gains in Bolton and Bury as evidence of his party’s progress.
“It looks very good, very encouraging,” Mr Cameron said.
He explained that shadow communities and local government secretary Eric Pickles believed the party would make net gains of 200 seats.
Appearing in the same video, party chairman Francis Maude said the Tories were winning councils they had never controlled.
Mr Maude said the early indicators were “really exciting” for the party.
