Tory challenger steps down
The man groomed to take on Labour’s MP in Chorely, Chesire, has stepped down due to ill health.
Alf Doran was elected as prospective candidate last July but now faces further medical treatment for a motorbike accident sustained during his time with the police.
The Tories will now have to find a new candidate to take on Labour MP Lindsay Hoyle.
Mr Doran, a councillor for 12 years, had promised to defend the town’s post offices, some of which had been earmarked for closure.
