‘Millions more homes’ needed
Millions more homes will be needed in Britain to make property affordable, a housing group has advised the government.
The National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU) says 3.48 million new homes will be needed by 2020, the group advised the government.
Gordon Brown put housing at the centre of his administration when he first came to power, but it has taken a back seat to global economic concerns and rising price of fuel.
But the NHPAU is calling on planners to look beyond current downturns in the property market and concentrate on long-term housing requirements.
