Osborne’s brother suspended
The younger brother of shadow chancellor George Osborne has been suspended from working as a doctor pending an investigation into prescription irregularities.
Dr Adam Osborne had his registration suspended by the General Medical Council’s (GMC) Interim Orders Panel for 18 months while the allegations are investigated.
The allegations are thought to refer top tranquilisers and are not a criminal matter.
A GMC spokeswoman said: “It is a measure the GMC can impose on a doctor’s registration when it may be in the best interest of the public safety and health.”
Dr Osborne issued a statement saying: “I can confirm I have been suspended by the GMC Interim Order Panel. I am unable to comment any further at this time.”
A Conservative party spokesperson said it was a “family matter”.
