Welsh Tories in surprise reshuffle

The Welsh Conservatives have replaced two members of their shadow cabinet in a surprise reshuffle today.
Both the health spokesman and chief whip were ousted in a move that leader Nick Bourne hopes will bring a “fresh perspective”.
The move has raised questions of internal tensions between former health spokesman Jonathan Morgan and Mr Bourne.
Mr Bourne said: “By appointing Alun Cairns to work alongside David Melding on the economy it underlines just how seriously Welsh Conservatives take the challenge of helping Wales emerge in a strong position from the recession.
“Welsh Conservatives take our role as the assembly’s official opposition very seriously.
“This is a strong team and a team which I believe will build on the work of recent years and one which will help us meet the many challenges ahead.”
Mr Bourn said the changes would enhance the “vitally important role of scrutinising the Labour-Plaid Assembly Government and its policies”.
