The former director of children’s services who lost her job as a result of the Baby P scandal has lodged an employment tribunal claim against Haringey council.
Sharon Shoesmith, 56, was removed from her post without compensation last December after a damming report was published criticising her department’s handling of the case.
Reports suggest Ms Shoesmith lodged a claim against the local authority with the Watford employment tribunal last Friday.
The tragic case of 18-month-old Baby P hit the headlines last year when the boy’s mother, her boyfriend and their lodger were convicted of abusing the child and causing his death.
The child died after suffering more than 50 injuries by the time of his death in August 2007, despite being under supervision from council workers in the north London district.
