Tories to publish ‘second jobs’ list
By Ian Dunt
David Cameron’s front bench team will reveal full details of their second jobs today, in a move which precedes the parliamentary process which would force the details out into the open.
The move will be followed by an outright ban on the shadow Cabinet having outside interests as of December this year.
The Tory leader said he believed the retention of second jobs to be largely beneficial, but that the information would be made public to reassure the public.
The announcement was made during his monthly press conference this morning.
There are questions as to why the shadow Cabinet have until December to quit their other jobs, and why the ruling does not apply to other front benchers.
The move follows findings by the party’s internal disciplinary committee last week, which saw Tory MPs pay back a further £125,000 on top of the money already announced.
