Anger at late Glasgow by-election
By politics.co.uk staff
Labour’s failure to announce a date for the Glasgow North East by-election has prompted anger from opposition parties and constituents.
The delay means voters won’t get a chance to choose an MP until November at the earliest.
The Scottish national party (SNP) had urged the government to set an earlier date, while the Lib Dems and the Conservative condemned the decision.
The by-election was triggered by the resignation of former Speaker Michael Martin.
