Former tourism minister Barbara Follett is rumoured to be stepping down before the next election.
Mrs Follett, had recently left her temporary cabinet position to make way for Margaret Hodge, who is returning after compassionate leave.
The MP for Stevenage and wife of the author Ken Follett recently had to pay back £32,976 in expenses including over £25,000 which she had claimed for private security patrols for her London home.
The rumour in the Westminster village is that the Labour selection committee have marked Mrs Follett’s Stevenage seat as “vacant” for the next election.
Mrs Follett is currently unavailable for comment.
