Cameron pledges to publish major govt contracts
By politics.co.uk
All government contracts over £25,000 would be published under a Tory government, David Cameron has promised.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) and intelligence contracts would be excluded, as would any other which involves national security.
The Tory leader made the announcement in a video-link message to the TED technology conference in California.
The Tories have already committed themselves to publishing details of any public spending project over £25,000 online.
Any “commercially significant clause” would be put online with supporting documents.
Once a protocol for the non-sensitive sections of MoD and intelligence contracts can be devised some contracts from those sectors will also be published.
