The odds: Clegg bubble ready to burst?

Confidence in a second victory for the Liberal Democrat leader has begun to wane, report bookies today.
William Hill observed a dramatic shift in bets as punters began to support David Cameron as the likeliest winner of the second televised debate. He is currently in from 9/4 to 5/4
Graham Sharpe, William Hill spokesman, commented “Cameron is the only one of the three being backed seriously.
“Clegg was 2/5 favourite to win the second debate but in the last day or two support for him has dried up and his odds are now drifting like a barge and he is currently out to 8/11.”
There is also bad news for the Labour camp. Graham Sharpe said that William Hill have taken ‘almost no money whatsoever’ for a Brown victory and announced that he remains an 8/1 outsider.
Ladbrokes has also seen a run of money for Cameron but it has not proven to be significant enough to change their prices.
Spokesman, Nick Weinberg explained “I think punters are wary of backing the Tory leader after last week.
“Clegg-mania has died down ever so slightly today, presumably because punters are waiting to see how he does tonight in the first test of his new found popularity and also due to today’s headlines.”
Ladbrokes echoed William Hill’s assessment of Gordon Brown’s chances of winning by noting that Clegg and Cameron account for more than 90 per cent of leaders’ debate bets.
