Brown to stay on as MP

Gordon Brown will stay on as MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath despite rumours he would resign from politics entirely.
Mr Brown’s election agent Alex Rowley told the Times, “His intention is to stay on as an MP, absolutely.”
The former prime minister has long stated he would return to teaching and take on charitable work if he was not re-elected.
“He’s not looking for a big fat job and he’s not much interested in money,” said a friend of Mr Brown to the paper. “He will do some writing but you shouldn’t expect the memoirs just yet.”
Given his economic experience and central role in tackling the international banking crisis he is still expected to eventually move on to a position in a global financial institution or possibly the Gates Foundation.
Mr Rowley also said Mr Brown may be given the ‘Freedom of Fife’, an honour so far only awarded to the Black Watch and accordionist Jimmy Shand.
