Unemployment rises

Unemployment has risen by 43,000 in the three months ending in February compared to the previous quarter.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics show that there are 2.502 million jobless people in Britain at the end of February, a 0.1% rise
The numbers claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance in March was 1.54 million, which actually represents a 0.1% drop on the number of claimants in February.
With the tightest election in years in full swing, these figures are sure to play a role in campaigning in days to come.
