General election 2010: Conservatives take Stourbridge convincingly

Conservative Margot James has won Stourbridge as expected.
After a swing of 6.9% from Labour in her favour, Ms James realised a majority of 5,164.
The seat was number 25 on the Conservative target list and the result will come as a relief to the party’s election strategists on a night when no result has been secure.
Outgoing Labour MP Lynda Waltho originally won the seat in 2005 with a slim majority of just 407 votes. Concerns about a local maternity ward were central to the campaign.
The Conservative party devoted significant resources to the campaign here in a seat where they were always the favourite to win.
