Poll shows support for PR

Nearly half the public wants some form of proportional representation for future elections, according to a new poll.
An ICM survey for the Sunday Telegraph shows that 48% backed a new voting system, with 39% wanting to keep first past the post.
A third of those polled favoured a Conservative /Liberal Democrat coalition while 32%, just one point less, wanting a Labour/Liberal coalition and 18% wanted a minority Tory government.
David Cameron and Nick Clegg are continuing discussions on a coalition, but it is believed that electoral reform is a sticking point. The Independent on Sunday reports the Tories will limit their offer to a parliamentary committee but nothing more, on a ‘take it or leave it’ basis.
