The report of the Bloody Sunday inquiry will finally be published, 38 years after the event.

Owen Paterson, secretary of state for Northern Ireland, confirmed today the report would be published on June 15th.

Families of those killed or injured will be able to see the report hours before it is published, as will those soldiers who were most directly involved.

Thirteen people died on January 30th 1972, when paratroopers opened fire on a civil rights march in Londonderry. The events became a symbol of the Troubles and the sometimes brutal reaction of troops in a highly volatile political situation.

A Commons debate will follow in the autumn.
