Two weeks after becoming prime minister, David Cameron is moving into No 10 Downing Street.

He revealed that the move was finally taking place while on the Today programme this morning.

“We are moving in today. So we had the last breakfast at home this morning but I have got quite a lot of other meetings and things I’ve got to do at the same time,” he said.

Eventually the Cameron family will move into No 11, which has a larger space more suitable for a family of their size.

But work is currently being carried out on the next-door house, which is traditionally reserved for the chancellor.

Reports indicate that the family plans to update the kitchen, which is infamously old fashioned, but that it will be paid for by his family.
