The week in Westminster: July 12th – July 16th
The week in Westminster: July 12th – July 16th
Nick Clegg’s first appearance before a parliamentary committee is the highlight of this week in Westminster.
The deputy prime minister will be quizzed by peers on his role as DPM, the proposals for a referendum on electoral reform and plans for Lords reform.
The latter issue will preoccupy the upper House throughout the week, after it debates changing its working practices on Monday.
In the Commons much of the time is taken up with the finance bill, which is putting into place George Osborne’s emergency Budget.
There’s also the return of the ten minute rule motions as well as the announcement on Thursday of the first topic chosen for debate by the backbench business committee.
