Four-day holiday announced for Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Britain will enjoy a four-day bank holiday next year for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, it has been confirmed.
The government designated June 5th an additional bank holiday and moved the late May holiday to June 4th to allow for four days of events.
The plans come amid a renewed celebration of the monarchy, following the global success of the royal wedding.
The Queen will mark the second by attending the Epsom Derby, Buckingham Palace announced.
A BBC concert, thanksgiving service and carriage procession will also feature.
The Queen will light the ‘national beacon’ after a chain of 2,012 are lit across the UK on the night of June 4th.
