The comedian who took public anger into his own hands by attacking Rupert Murdoch with an improvised custard pie has been charged by police.
Jonnie Marbles, whose real name is Jonathan May-Bowles, interrupted the media mogul's evidence session to the culture, media and sport committee after two hours of Mr Murdoch's testimony.
His weapon of choice was a paper plate with shaving foam. But he was only partially successful in reaching his target thanks to the prompt action of Mr Murdoch's wife, Wendi Deng, whose right hook has received instant notoriety.
The Metropolitan police said Mr May-Bowles, 26, of Edinburgh Gardens, Windsor, was charged today with an offence under section five of the Public Order Act.
Section five covers behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress in a public place.
He has been bailed to appear at City of Westminster magistrates court on July 29th.
