Sally Bercow potential eviction saving grace for Speaker

John Bercow's political career appears likely to survive his wife Sally Bercow's appearance in the Celebrity Big Brother house, according to bookmakers.
William Hill have upped odds on the Speaker resigning from 20-1 to 33-1 because Ms Bercow faces the public vote for eviction on Friday and is 4-9 odds-on favourite to be the first celebrity to leave the house.
She is up against reality-TV veteran Kerry Katona and model Bobby Sabel, who are both considered more likely to win votes from the public.
An early eviction from the Channel 5 show would be a disappointment for Ms Bercow, who broke down in tears when it was announced she had been nominated.
She told housemates that she was upset due to the difficulties she'd had to face in order to go on the show.
Rupert Adams, William Hill's spokesman, said:"One person that you can guarantee will not be voting to keep Sally in the house is her husband John, who might just have got away with his career intact despite the odd indiscreet revelation!"
The wife of the Speaker, who entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last week, admitted her husband was "not happy about it".
Whilst her presence on the show has dismayed many commentators who have accused her of tackiness, she has not so far said anything which seems likely to seriously damage Mr Bercow.
However, she has not endeared herself to fellow housemates, with many commenting she is not entirely trustworthy.
Darryn Lyons, a paparazzo and entrepreneur who has clashed with Ms Bercow in the house, accused her of talking behind people's backs.
Despite the potential for Sally Bercow to be evicted early on William Hill have slashed the odds to 5-1 on her divorcing the Speaker this year.
"John Bercow's credibility as Speaker in the House of Commons is under threat and it is easy to see their relationship taking a tumble," Mr Adams added.
