Boris attacks Cameron indecision as poll rating soars
Boris Johnson launched a stinging attack on David Cameron today, amid soaring poll ratings.
As the prime minister enjoyed his Spanish holiday, the London Mayor accused him of "pussyfooting around" with infrastructure decisions for London.
"The government needs to stop pussyfooting around. I don't think you can rely on Heathrow," he said, as Liberal Democrats grew even more resolutely opposed to aviation expansion in the capital.
The comments come as polls find the mayor's popularity soaring following the Olympics. Sixty per-cent of people told Ipsos-Mori their view of Johnson had improved, while just 11% said it hadn't.
A survey by Labour website LabourList suggested Labour supporters were more concerned about Johnson than Cameron, with 51% saying he would be harder to beat in an election and 22% disagreeing.
Asked by the Evening Standard if he would like to move from City Hall to Westminster after his second term, he replied: "I honestly don't know the answer to that question."
The royal family and the BBC were the other big winners of the Olympics, according to the Ipsos-Mori poll, with 70% saying the Queen's image had been improved and 81% saying the same thing for the publicly-funded broadcaster.
