BHA comment on Tesco Good Friday ad row

The following quotation is in relation to the story concerning Tesco's Good Friday advert, which said 'Great offers on beer and cider. Good Friday just got better.'

Andrew Copson, Chief Executive of the British Humanist Assocociation, said in response to the news that:

'Following last week's manufactured outrage over Easter eggs, we're sad to see more hypersensitive victim-pleading of this sort. Opening a Pandora's box of feigned offence at every holiday is as childish and counterproductive as it is tiresome. For most British people, Good Friday is the name we give to a bank holiday in the spring, and Tesco was well within its rights to put out an inoffensive ad aimed at the millions of people looking forward to a cold drink with friends over the long weekend.'
