Queen top choice for a cuppa revels new cystic fibrosis trust survey

The Queen takes the top spot of who people would most like to have tea with in a new YouGov poll by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust revealed today (Monday 7 February).

Of those listed, 28% of people said they would like to have a cup of tea with the Queen, with Dawn French and Judi Dench coming next (13% and 11% respectively).

The new survey comes as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust launches FeBREWary, a fundraising campaign encouraging people to host a tea party with friends and family to raise vital funds for life saving research.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust celebrity ambassador, Richard Madeley, who also voted the Queen as top of his list to have a cup of tea with and is supporting FeBREWary, said: “Who wouldn’t? Assuming you could have a full and frank (and obviously totally confidential) conversation, it would probably entirely change your view of modern history.”

Aimee, from Sheffield, who is mum to Harper, a 1-year-old girl with Cystic Fibrosis, hosted an event for FeBREWary last year.

She said: “Febrewary is as a great opportunity to get all the family together over zoom. I would encourage others to take part in the event in 2022, to come together and have an open conversation about cystic fibrosis over a cuppa.”

Jenny Agutter, Cystic Fibrosis Trust celebrity ambassador who is also backing the FeBREWary campaign, said: “It’s great to see The Cystic Fibrosis Trust holding their FeBREWary event for a second year running, it is a fantastic opportunity to have a cup of tea with friends, family or colleagues while also fundraising for such a worthy cause. Why don’t you use this as a chance to catch up with someone you haven’t spoken to for a while over a lovely brew?”

Beverley Burnham-Jones, Head of Community Giving and Events Engagement, is encouraging people to get involved, and said: “We hope you’ll pop the kettle on, bake some treats and invite your friends and family to a tea party this FeBREWary. Whether it’s online, round the kitchen table or in your garden – you choose! All money raised will help fund lifesaving research to find treatments for everyone with cystic fibrosis.”
