Education Questions: Robert Halfon on UK university misinformation

During education questions, the chair of the education select committee Robert Halfon urged the education secretary Nadhim Zahawi to “contact universities to stop them acting as useful idiots for President Putin’s atrocities in Ukraine”. 

Halfon told the House about how leading UK university academics have “exposed pro-Putinist propaganda, suggested lies being spread by the Kremlin and boasting about appearing on Russia Today”. 

The education secretary said that he was “grate for the issue being raised” and that the minister for universities “is already on the case”.
