Ministers set to oversee parole board decisions

In a statement to the House of Commons, Dominic Raab announced that “ministerial oversight” will be introduced to aid parole board decisions for serious offenders leaving prison.

Raab told the House that hoped that this would help “maintain and sustain public confidence in our justice system”.

The package of reforms included a revision of the “statutory test for release” and of “victims’ rights”.
