MPs call on government to protect defence spending following Ukraine update
In a statement to the House of Commons, foreign secretary Liz Truss updated the House on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the further steps that the government is taking to “keep the pressure up on Putin”.
The calls from Conservative backbenchers and opposition alike were to protect the defence spending, following the government decision to “cut he army by £10,000”.
Truss also received continued criticism in the government’s humanitarian response for refugees. For Labour MP Kevin Brennan, she agreed to “take forward the case with the home secretary”.
