MPs clash on international trade ‘scare-mongering’
During international trade questions, under-secretary for international trade Mike Freer rebuked the SNP spokesperson Drew Hendry’s claim that the government’s trade deals “will be flooded with cheap imports”, dismissing it as “scare-mongering”.
Hendry highlighted the government’s data that “4,300 fewer businesses in the UK are exporting goods and services”, before asking why the government are “going after farmers in Australia and New Zealand” rather than UK farmers.
Freer then hit back, telling the SNP that it was a “good job” he was leading exports because “all they ever see is problems”.
