Phillips gives passionate speech in favour of at home abortion service
During a debate on whether at home abortion services, which were introduced during the pandemic, should continue, Labour MP Jess Phillips delivered a passionate speech in favour of its continuation.
Phillips recounted her personal story of having an abortion, telling the House of Commons that she is “an adult women completely capable of handling my own body”. She described any votes against the continuation as “suggesting otherwise”.
It emerged that Phillips felt so passionately about this issue that she had joined the debate despite being on compassionate leave for the sudden death of her mother in law.
