PMQs: Starmer laughs off Johnson’s ‘Corbynista’ jibe
Keir Starmer attacked Boris Johnson for “not taking responsibility” over Partygate, in a feisty first Prime Minister’s Questions following Easter recess.
Labour’s leader took the Johnson to task for being given a fixed penalty notice by the Metropolitan Police last week, criticising the PM’s apology and claiming the prime minister “ never takes responsibility for his words or actions”.
Referencing Allegra Stratton and Matt Hancock’s resignations, Starmer said: “Why does the prime minister think everybody else’s actions have consequences except his own?”
The prime minister accused Starmer of “intellectual bankruptcy, labelling Labour’s leader as a “Corbynista in a smart Islington suit.”
Starmer replied: “I think you’ll find Mr Corbyn doesn’t have the whip.”
