Clark, Feryal

Feryal Clark is the Labour MP for Enfield North, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019 with a majority of 6,492 over the Conservative Party.

Enfield North is an ethnically diverse seat that borders the M25 to the North of London. Census data shows a quarter of the electorate to be black or mixed race.  The seat was held by the Conservative Party between 2010 and 2015, but bucking the national trend, there has been a movement against the party in most North London seats since 2015.

Feryal Clark is currently a shadow health spokesperson on Labour’s front bench team. Clark previously worked in the NHS in Pathology at Barts hospital, specialising in biochemistry and virology.

Born in Turkey in 1979, Feryal Clark is Labour’s first Kurdish MP.  She was educated at the University of Exeter. She served as a Councillor on Hackney Council, and was Deputy Mayor between 2019 and 2019.

A member of the trade union Unison, Clark has a broad range of political interests, evident in her membership of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Armenia, Kurdistan, Alevis, Cycling and Walking, Genocide, Innovation, International Conservation, Tamils, Pharmacy, Mortgage Prisoners, Thalassaemia, and Wine.

She supported Lisa Nandy in the 2020 Labour leadership election.
