Gareth Davies is the Conservative MP for Grantham and Stamford, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019 with a majority of 26,003 over the Labour Party.
The constituency of Grantham and Stamford covers the two towns of that name in the north of the seat and then a vast swathe of Lincolnshire to the south. Agriculture and food processing are important components of the local economy. A safe Conservative seat for much of the post war era, Grantham is famous as the birthplace of Margaret Thatcher.
Born in 1984, Gareth Davies was educated at Oxford and the London School of Economics. He later studied at Harvard University’s school of government. When at Harvard he visited North Korea on a trip that was chronicled by a National Geographic photographer. As such, he is also one of the few MPs to have been featured on North Korean state television.
Davies is a former Investment Banker, he is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Markets and Services.
A champion of ‘reasonable capitalism’ as he calls it, he is tipped for a front line career in Conservative politics. He was married in 2019.
